The olive oil stalls are the standout, carrying bottles from cooperatives across the province. This is a covered food hall rather than an open-air farmers market, so those counters keep the same six-day hours as the rest. Arrive before 10am for the best fish selection and widest choice of seasonal produce.

Staying in the historic centre puts you within easy walking distance of the San Francisco Market and the city's main sights. Try Parador de Jaén for something with real character, or Centro Histórico has plenty of good-value options if you want to be right in the thick of things.

If you prefer something more modern, Hotel Xauen is a solid, central choice with easy access to the market and the cathedral quarter.

The market is at Calle Álamos 10, right in central Jaén and walkable from the old town and most city-centre accommodation. Several bus routes pass through the surrounding streets. Street parking is available nearby, and the market participates in a discount scheme: keep your purchase receipt to claim one free hour at the adjacent car park. The city's other covered market, Peñamefecit Market, sits on the residential side of town.
