Salamanca Market
Neighbourhood municipal market in Málaga's El Molinillo with 33 stalls of fresh fish, produce, and local goods in a restored 1920s neo-Mudéjar building.
Salamanca Market (Mercado de Salamanca) is a neighbourhood municipal market in Málaga's El Molinillo district, housed in a restored neo-Mudéjar building at Calle San Bartolomé 1. Designed by architect Daniel Rubio Sánchez and built between 1922 and 1925, the single-nave hall with its ornate twin façades was fully rehabilitated in 2021. The market has 33 stalls and is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 2pm.
What to buy
The stalls cover the full range of a local Spanish market: fresh fish and seafood, meat and poultry, fruit and vegetables, cheese and dairy, olive oil, nuts, and flowers. The fish and seafood section is the main draw, with daily catches from the Málaga coast. Prices are noticeably lower than in tourist-facing parts of the city centre, and it's a genuinely working neighbourhood market rather than a visitor attraction. Worth the short walk north from the old town.
