Street Markets in Tarifa

Tarifa spreads its three street markets thinly rather than concentrating them on one big morning, which is unusual for a town this size and means you can almost always fit one into a stay of a few days. One market trades on each of the four days, and the largest of the three is Bolonia Municipal Street Market at 25 stalls. Every one of the three has a confirmed trading day, so nothing here needs checking before you set out. Get there close to the 9am opening, which leaves five hours before the 2pm close and puts you in front of the clothing, footwear and handicraft pitches while they are still fully stocked. Bring cash, since card acceptance varies from one pitch to the next at markets this small. Parking near the old town is tight on market mornings, so leave the car outside the walls and walk in.

Stay inside the walls if you want to reach the markets on foot at 9am without moving the car. Casco Antiguo is the central base for that, and Hotel Misiana is a solid mid-range pick in the old town to come back to after a morning on the stalls. For the Bolonia market you will want a car, since it sits well up the coast from the town.
