Arrive early in the morning, around 8 or 9am, to find the best fresh produce and selection before the crowds arrive. Bring cash, as many stall holders at these markets don't accept card payments, and note that most markets wind down by early afternoon.

For the shortest walk to the market stalls, base yourself near the Town Centre, which also gives you an easy metro ride into Madrid if you want to explore further afield. If you'd rather have more choice of hotels, look along Avenida de España, the town's main commercial corridor, where rooms tend to be better value.
