Seasonal Christmas market in Mérida with craft stalls, an ice rink and children's activities at Plaza del Templo de Diana.
Mérida Christmas Market sets up each year at Plaza del Templo de Diana in Mérida, running daily from early December through to early January. Around twenty craft stalls open from 11:00 to 21:00, selling handmade gifts, jewelry, seasonal decorations and prepared foods. The market also features a 400 sqm ice skating rink and a dedicated children's play area. Bring cash, as most stalls don't take cards.
What you'll find
Stalls focus on handicrafts, jewelry, clothing and textiles, flowers and seasonal decorations. You'll also find prepared foods and festive treats. A stall run by local NGOs operates alongside the craft sellers. Beyond the shopping, there's live music in the multipurpose tent, children's workshops, and a Santa's cabin for the little ones. It's one of the highlights of the Christmas season among Mérida's street markets.
Where to stay in Mérida
Staying close to the old town puts you right in the heart of the action, with the Christmas Market just a short walk away. Centro Histórico is your best bet, and the Parador de Mérida is a standout choice if you want something special, set in a former convent steps from the Roman ruins.
For a more affordable option, the Hotel Velada Mérida sits right in the centre and is well placed for exploring the market on foot. Book early in December, as rooms fill up quickly during the festive season.
