Food is the reason to come early. Stalls across Ribadeo's street markets sell fresh fruit and vegetables, organic produce and prepared foods, so the first hour after the 9am start is when the produce tables are at their fullest. The non-food side is broad for a town this size: clothing and textiles, footwear and leather goods, handicrafts, and antiques and second-hand stock, which is what the Cancer Association market deals in. Carry cash, since card acceptance varies from one stall to the next.

Wednesday is the busier of the two confirmed trading days and the one to build a morning around. Sunday is the quieter option, and it suits anyone already in town for the weekend rather than making a trip for it. Either way the markets are packed away by 2pm, so an arrival much after midday means picking over what is left. Staying in the town centre puts the market pitches and the waterfront within a short walk, which matters when the stalls open at 9am and you would rather not move a car first. For a more comfortable base with views over the Eo estuary, the Parador de Ribadeo sits just outside the centre and is still walkable. A car is useful for reaching markets in the surrounding towns, but not for these ones.
