Municipal markets in Pamplona
Pamplona's municipal markets are the heart of the city's food culture. The oldest, Santo Domingo Market, has stood on Calle Mercado since 1876 and was even mentioned in Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises. Today it has around 25 stalls selling fresh fish, meat, cheese, and seasonal vegetables from the Ebro valley.
The Ensanche Market is the largest, with 74 stalls spread across 2,600 square metres in the Segundo Ensanche neighbourhood. It opened in 1947 and offers extended Friday evening hours, making it a good option if you can't get there in the morning. Two smaller halls nearby, the II Ensanche Market and the Ensanche Gorriti con Amaya Market, round out the Ensanche area's food shopping.
You can find official visitor information on the Pamplona city council website.
