Montserrat Market
A completely rebuilt neighbourhood market in Barcelona's Nou Barris, with 16 food stalls, a bar and supermarket. Open Monday to Friday, extended to 6:30pm on Fridays.
Mercat de Montserrat is a municipal market serving the Roquetes neighbourhood of Barcelona's Nou Barris district. Originally founded in 1960, the market has been completely rebuilt in a new 10,045 m² building designed by ONA Arquitectes, with 16 food stalls, a bar and a supermarket on the ground floor. It opens Monday to Friday: 7am to 1pm on Mondays, 7am to 2pm Tuesday through Thursday, and 7am to 6:30pm on Fridays.
What to buy
Inside you'll find dedicated stalls for fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry, fish and seafood, cheese and dairy, and bread and baked goods. The bar is a good spot to grab a coffee or a quick bite while shopping. The ground-floor supermarket rounds out the offer for anything you can't pick up at the individual stalls. It's one of the municipal markets in Barcelona built for local residents rather than tourists.
