Street Markets in Figueres

Thursday is the busiest day, with two markets trading at once: the Fruit and Vegetable Market and the general Street Market, which brings clothing, textiles and household odds and ends alongside the produce. Saturday also has two running, the Fruit and Vegetable Market again plus the Antiques and Collectors Market, so it is the day for browsing rather than shopping for the week's food. Tuesday is the quietest, with the Fruit and Vegetable Market on its own.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday have no street market trading in Figueres at all. On those days, markets across Girona will show which nearby towns are open instead.

The usual pattern is 08:30 to 13:30, the commonest hours across the three markets. That is a morning timetable rather than an all-day one, so aim to arrive between nine and eleven. Produce stalls sell down their stock as the morning goes on and some begin packing up before the official closing time, particularly on quieter Tuesdays.

All three markets are free to walk into. Bring cash, as small stallholders at the produce and bric-a-brac tables often have no card terminal, and bring your own bag. Fruit and vegetable prices are marked per kilo, and bread, cheese, meat, flowers and spice stalls trade alongside them.

Stay in the city centre if you want to walk to the markets, since all three set up within the old town and start at 08:30, well before most hotel breakfasts finish. Hotel Duran is a reliable historic option in the middle of town. No car is needed for a market morning here.
