Markets in the Province of Girona
Catalonia, Spain · 109 markets across 45 cities
Girona province has 109 markets across 45 towns, and 104 of them are street markets, the weekly mercats setmanals that set up for one morning and are packed away by the afternoon. Only five are municipal markets with a permanent home.
Saturday is the day to build a trip around. 41 markets trade on a Saturday and 39 on Sunday, so the weekend carries most of the province's market activity. Midweek fills in steadily: 17 on Tuesday, 20 on Wednesday, 15 on Thursday and 17 on Friday. Monday is the thin day at 12, worth knowing if you are only in the area for a long weekend that starts on one.
The usual hours are 08:00 to 14:00. Arrive around ten and you have a comfortable couple of hours; arrive at half past one and you will be watching stalls come down. Eight of the 109 markets have no confirmed day yet, so 101 do, and where a day is missing the market's own page says so rather than guessing.

The Catalonia markets page covers the rest of the region.
What day is market day in Girona province?
Saturday is market day across most of Girona province, with 41 of the 109 markets trading, ahead of 39 on Sunday and 20 on Wednesday. Monday is the quietest trading day at 12. That makes a weekend the safest window if you want a choice of markets within a short drive.

Girona province has markets trading every day of the week, so there is almost always one somewhere. Monday is the thinnest day with 12, Tuesday and Friday each have 17, and Wednesday 20. Eight of the 109 markets have no confirmed day, so check the town listings before setting out.
What time do markets open in Girona province?
Markets in Girona province usually open at 08:00 and close at 14:00, the commonest hours across all 109. Weekend markets follow the same pattern, including the 39 that trade on a Sunday. The five municipal markets keep their own hours, which are listed on each market's page.
Which towns in Girona province have the most markets?
Torroella de Montgrí, Palafrugell and Platja d'Aro each run five markets, the highest count in Girona province. La Bisbal d'Empordà, Blanes, Pals and Salt follow with four. Those seven towns hold 31 of the province's 109 markets between them, out of 45 towns in total.
