Street Markets in Salobrena

Across the four markets you'll find fresh fruit and vegetables, clothing and textiles, footwear and leather goods, handicrafts, antiques and organic produce. The split matters when you're choosing a day: the general markets are where the clothing and shoe stalls are, while the Saturday eco flea market and the Sunday organic market carry the antiques, handmade goods and organic growers. Arrive close to the 9am opening for the best of the fresh produce, since the fruit and vegetable stalls thin out well before the 2pm close. Card acceptance varies from one trader to the next, so carry cash, particularly for the antique and handicraft stalls. The Friday night market is the exception to all of this: it runs into the evening, so it is the one to plan around if the daytime heat puts you off a morning market.

Salobrena divides between the old town on its hill and the seafront below it, and all four markets are close enough to either to reach on foot. Salobrena Old Town puts you within walking distance of the weekly market and the produce stalls in the lower town, which is the easier base if you want to do a market before breakfast. If you would rather be on the coast, Hotel Salobrena Beach suits combining a 9am market with the Costa Tropical beaches afterwards. A car is worth having for the other markets along the Granada coast, but not for these four.
