The 25 stalls are food first: fish and seafood, meat and poultry, cheese and dairy, fresh fruit and vegetables, and bread. Monday is the busiest morning of the week, and Saturday the quietest of the six trading days.

Come before 10am, while the fish and meat counters are still fully stocked. Bring a bag or basket, since most stalls don't provide packaging, and carry some cash, as card acceptance varies from one trader to the next. Nothing opens on Sunday, so plan food shopping for the day before.

Stay in the Town Centre for the easiest walk to the market square and the old town streets, or try Hotel Santa Cecilia for somewhere with a bit more comfort. Arriving on a Sunday means waiting until Monday morning for the market to open.
