Municipal Markets in Vigo

Street markets in Vigo

Vigo has two weekly outdoor markets. The Bouzas Street Market sets up every Sunday morning with around 25 stalls selling clothing, footwear, and jewellery. On Wednesdays, the Coia Street Market takes over with a similar mix plus books and handicrafts. Both run from 9:00 AM.

About markets in Vigo

Markets in Vigo reflect the city's deep ties to the sea and Galician food culture. As the largest city in Galicia and one of Spain's busiest fishing ports, Vigo's municipal markets are stocked with fresh seafood landed daily from the Ría de Vigo, along with local produce, cheese, and bread.

There are 8 markets across the city. Six are permanent covered markets in neighbourhoods like Bouzas, Teis, Cabral, and Coia, open most days of the week. Two weekly street markets round things out with clothing, handicrafts, and household goods.

You can find official details on all of Vigo's food markets on the Vigo tourism website.

Municipal food markets

Vigo's six municipal markets each serve a different neighbourhood. Progreso Market in Santiago de Vigo and Travesas Market in Coia are the largest, open Monday to Saturday with long hours. Teis Market opens early at 7:00 AM, a good pick if you want the freshest catch. Cabral Market and Bouzas Market are smaller but carry the same quality fish, meat, fruit, and vegetables you'll find across all of Vigo's covered markets.

If you're exploring more of the Pontevedra province, the markets in Pontevedra city and Cangas are worth checking out too.
