Markets in Boltaña
Huesca, Aragon
Boltaña markets bring together six outdoor street fairs across the calendar year, covering everything from fresh organic produce to handmade crafts and books. All six are held outdoors, making Boltaña one of the more festival-oriented market towns in the Sobrarbe comarca.

Where to stay in Boltaña
Boltaña is a small town, so staying in town centre puts you within easy walking distance of the market and everything else. For a more comfortable base with views of the Pyrenees, Hotel Monasterio de Boltaña is a popular option just outside the centre and well worth considering.
If you prefer something simpler, there are rural guesthouses and casa rurales in the surrounding area that work well for a short stay, especially if you're combining the market with exploring the Sobrarbe region.

Street markets in Boltaña
The Pyrenean Agro-food Market is the most food-focused of the six, offering fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, organic produce and prepared foods directly from Pyrenean producers. It runs on a weekly schedule and is the best option if you are specifically looking for locally grown or eco-certified goods.
The Boltaña Spring Fair and the Boltaña Autumn Fair together cover the warmer and cooler outdoor seasons, both selling clothing, footwear and handicrafts. The Spring Fair also includes prepared foods, giving it a slightly broader appeal than its autumn counterpart.
The Pyrenean Book Fair of Aure and Sobrarbe is the most distinctive market in the lineup, pairing books with handmade crafts in a cultural setting shared with the French side of the Pyrenees. The Pyrenean Luthiers Fair is equally specialist, devoted to handcrafted instruments and related handicrafts, and is unlikely to have an equivalent in nearby towns such as Ainsa or Broto. The Boltaña Christmas Solidarity Market rounds out the year with a charitable handicrafts event in December. For more markets in the wider area, see the Huesca province page.

Planning your visit
All six markets are held outdoors, so weather is worth factoring in, particularly for the book and luthiers fairs where merchandise may be sensitive to rain. The official tourism information for Boltaña and Sobrarbe is available through Turismo Sobrarbe, which publishes updated event dates for the seasonal fairs.
