Toro Municipal Market

The market occupies a brick building with a triangular layout, directly in front of the Convent of the Mercy nuns. Trading five days a week rather than one makes it the town's everyday food shop, and the hall is wheelchair accessible throughout. The 15 stalls cover fresh fruit and vegetables, butchers with local meat and poultry, fishmongers, cheese and dairy, and fresh bread. On Saturdays, an outdoor extension sets up around the building, where growers from the surrounding countryside bring fruit, vegetables and seasonal goods. Stalls take cash, contactless and mobile payments.

Toro is a small town, so staying central is the smart move. Look for accommodation around Casco Histórico, where you'll be within easy walking distance of the market and the town's famous Romanesque cathedral.

The market is at Pl. de San Juan de los Gascos, 11, in central Toro, a short walk from anywhere in the historic centre. Street parking is available in the surrounding streets, and access into the hall is step-free.
