Fresh fruit and vegetables run through the market, alongside cheese and dairy stalls and prepared foods to carry away. Cut flowers and potted plants take up a further stretch.

Clothing and textiles, footwear and leather goods and jewellery account for much of the rest, which is what fills 120 pitches rather than the two dozen a produce-only market needs. Everything trades in the open air, with no indoor hall to shelter in.

Staying in the town centre puts you within easy walking distance of the Saturday market and the waterfront. Try Town Centre for the most convenient base, or look at Hotel Miami Mar if you want a comfortable spot right by the bay.

There are also guesthouses along Passeig Marítim that keep you close to both the market and the sea. This is a small town, so the three market streets are reachable on foot from almost anywhere you stay.

Sant Carles de la Ràpita is on the coast south of Tortosa, easily reached by car or local bus, and the three streets run close enough together to walk the whole market in one circuit.
