Huelva Sunday Market

Fresh fruit and vegetable stalls run alongside bakers selling bread and pastries, and there are prepared foods if you want something to eat while you walk. Clothing and footwear take up much of the rest of the ground, with jewellery stalls and a run of flowers and plants. Across 205 stalls the mix is closer to a general market than a food market, so you can do a week's fruit and veg here and buy a pair of shoes on the way out.

Staying central makes the most sense for the Sunday market, so look at hotels around the old town and Plaza de las Monjas. Centro Histórico puts you within easy walking distance and gives you plenty of cafés to recover in afterwards.

For something more polished, NH Luz Huelva is a reliable mid-range option well placed for exploring the city. Budget-conscious visitors often do well at Hotel Monte Conquero, which sits close to the main shopping streets and has solid reviews.

The market is at Marismas del Polvorín, 21007 Huelva, in the south of the city, and it is easiest reached by car or local bus. It is an open-air site with no covered hall, so dress for the weather and expect no shade in August.
