Gallarta is a small mining town, so accommodation options are limited locally. Your best bet is to stay in nearby Bilbao, where you'll find plenty of hotels to suit every budget, and travel in by car or public transport. Bilbao City Centre is a solid base, or look at options in the Abanto-Zierbena municipality if you want to stay closer to the action.

Street markets in Gallarta
The Gallarta Street Market (Mercadillo de Gallarta) sets up each Thursday on Doctor Areilza Etxetaldea. Around 15 outdoor stalls sell clothing, footwear, and handicrafts, with cash as the main payment method. The market is wheelchair accessible and suits a quick morning visit.
For a larger market day, Portugalete and Barakaldo are both a short metro ride away along the left bank of the Nervión. The Abanto y Ciérvana municipal website lists local services and events if you want to plan around other activities in the area.
