Mamariga Market Plaza

The market has been part of the Mamariga neighbourhood since the early 1980s, occupying the ground floor of the area's distinctive high-rise building on Mamariga Kalea. It's a working local market where residents pick up their weekly shopping from familiar stall holders, rather than a tourist attraction. The 15 stalls cover everyday fresh produce: fish and seafood, meat and poultry, vegetables, fruit, cheese and dairy, and bread. Given Santurtzi's location on the Nervión estuary, the fish counter is worth a look for local catches. Both cash and credit cards are accepted at the stalls.

Santurtzi is a compact port town, so staying central puts you close to the Mamariga Market Plaza without any fuss. Santurtzi Town Centre is your best bet, with easy walking access to the market and the waterfront.

If you prefer more options, nearby Bilbao is just a short metro ride away and has a much wider choice of accommodation. Hotel Silken Indautxu and Casco Viejo are both well-placed for hopping on the metro to Santurtzi for market day.
