Where to stay in Valle de Trapaga / Trapagaran

Valle de Trapaga is a small industrial town in the Greater Bilbao area, so your best bet is to stay in nearby Bilbao and make the short trip in by metro or car. Casco Viejo puts you right in the heart of the city with plenty of bars and restaurants on your doorstep, while Abando is a central, well-connected neighbourhood that makes getting around the whole metro area easy.

If you'd rather stay closer, Barakaldo is just next door to Valle de Trapaga and has more accommodation options than the town itself, with good transport links into Bilbao too.

Street markets in Valle de Trapaga / Trapagaran

The Trapagaran Street Market runs every Friday from 08:00 on Juan Sebastian Elcano Kalea. Its 30 stalls focus on clothing, textiles, footwear, leather goods and handicrafts, making it a practical stop for everyday shopping rather than food or produce. The market is held outdoors, is wheelchair accessible and is pet-friendly. Bring cash, as stalls do not accept card payments.

Trapagaran sits just a few kilometres from Barakaldo and Portugalete, both of which have their own market days if you want to combine visits across the valley. You can find more about the town through the Basque Country tourism site.
