La Ganga Market 1st and 3rd Sunday

The Catalan name, Mercat La Ganga 1r i 3r Diumenge, records the pattern: the first and third Sunday of each month, so check the date of the Sunday you are travelling. Everything is outdoors on the avenue, with no covered hall. Twenty-five stalls is a size you can walk end to end in half an hour, then walk again more slowly once you have seen what is there. Traders begin winding down towards the 2pm close.

The pitches are on level ground and the market is wheelchair accessible, and dogs are welcome. Stalls take cash, and contactless and mobile payments are also accepted, though which of the three a given trader offers varies from stall to stall.

Four categories dominate: clothing and textiles, footwear and leather goods, handicrafts, and jewellery. Expect rails of clothes and boxes of shoes alongside handmade pieces and trays of jewellery, the sort of mix where prices are worth a polite question. There is no food section here.

Blanes is small enough that most of it walks to Avinguda Catalunya in under twenty minutes. Staying in the town centre puts you closest to the old town and the market pitches, while the beach area trades a few minutes' walk for the seafront.
