Carballo Municipal Market

The market building dates from 1969, designed by architect Ramón Tenreiro Brochón, and was fully restored and reopened in 2010. It is Carballo's principal municipal market, serving the local community with all the daily food essentials.

Everything trades under one roof, so the weather makes no difference to a visit, and the hall is wheelchair accessible. The stalls take cash and mobile payments. Every day ends at 2pm, which makes this a morning errand rather than an afternoon one, and the only day it does not open is Sunday. You buy counter by counter here rather than from one till, which is the difference between this and the supermarkets on the main road. Six trading days a week means you do not have to plan around a single market morning, as you would at the town's street markets.

Carballo is a small, walkable town, so staying central puts you close to the market and everything else. Town Centre is your best bet, with easy access on foot to the municipal market and the main shops.
