Benicarló Medieval Market

Stalls sell handicrafts, clothing and textiles, footwear and leather goods, and jewellery, which is the mix that gives the market its medieval framing rather than the fruit-and-veg rows of an ordinary weekly mercadillo. Prepared foods are sold on site, so there is something to eat while you browse. Card acceptance is not confirmed at any stall, so carry cash.

Staying in the town centre puts you within easy walking distance of the medieval market, and Town Centre has a good mix of hotels and guesthouses at reasonable prices. Hotel Parador de Benicarló is a solid choice if you want comfort close to the action, with parking and a seafront location that makes it easy to explore the area.

If you prefer something quieter, the port area is worth considering. Port Area gives you access to good restaurants and a short walk or drive into the centre when the market is on.

The market occupies the plaza area at the heart of Benicarló town centre, which is walkable from anywhere in the old town and a short distance inland from the port. It is outdoors throughout, with no cover from summer sun, and the 9am to 2pm window means the last hour is the hottest.
