Fruit and vegetable stalls run alongside them, with growers selling whatever the Castellón season is producing. Card acceptance is not confirmed at any of the stalls, so carry cash and expect to settle in coins and small notes.

Vila-real is a compact town, so staying in or near the centre puts you within easy reach of the flea market and everything else. Town Centre is your best bet, with a handful of hotels and easy walking to the market site.

If you want something more specific, Hotel Roca is a straightforward, reliable choice that locals and visitors alike tend to use, and a 7am start is far easier from a bed in the town than from one in Castellón de la Plana.

The market occupies Plaza Mayor and Plaza Bayarri, adjoining squares in central Vila-real, so once you reach the old centre you are already at it. There is no covered hall and no fixed pitch: the stalls go up in the open on Wednesday and Saturday mornings and are gone by 2pm.
