Fifteen stalls is a small hall by Valencian standards, and it reads that way inside: one or two counters for each trade, no duplication, and stall holders who recognise the people in front of them. Trading stops at 2pm on all three days, so there is no afternoon session to fall back on.

The building is indoors and wheelchair accessible, with step-free access into the hall. Payment is flexible for a market this size, with cash, contactless cards and mobile payments all taken, though it is worth having coins for the smallest purchases. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday the hall is shut, so on those days look at the other municipal markets in the town or the local street markets instead.

Six trades cover a full shopping list rather than souvenirs. There is fresh fruit and fresh vegetables, fish and seafood, meat and poultry, cheese and dairy, and bread and bakery. That is the whole of it, and the point of a hall this compact is that you can do the round of every counter in a single visit.

For self-catering visitors, the Friday or Saturday morning shop is the useful one: fish or seafood from the counter, plus vegetables and bread, with the meat and cheese counters filling in the rest.

Staying near the centre puts you within walking distance of the hall on a trading morning. Try the town centre for that, or Playa de Puçol if you would rather be on the seafront and travel in for the shopping.
