Art Walks

The market has two halves. Calle Churruca is narrow and pedestrian, so the stalls run in a line and you shuffle past them one at a time. The space outside the church is more open, which is where families tend to stop and where children have room without being in anyone's way. Because it is outdoors and unroofed, everything depends on the evening being calm, and the 4pm to 10pm window means the last couple of hours are done under street lighting.

Handicrafts, and only handicrafts. This is not a fruit and vegetable market and there is no fish counter, so come for things that are made rather than eaten. Stallholders are usually the makers, which means prices are their own and you can ask how something was put together. Two evenings a week and a short street means the number of stalls is modest, so treat it as half an hour of browsing rather than a morning's shopping.

Staying close to the seafront in El Moro puts you within easy walking distance of the art walks and the town's main squares. The Riu Palace Tres Islas is a solid choice if you want comfort and a beach position without being far from the centre.

For something more central, look at options around Corralejo Old Town, where you can step out to the crafts, cafes and weekend markets on foot.
