Gran Canaria Agricultural Market - Vecindario
A Saturday morning farmers market in Vecindario with 25 stalls of fresh Canarian fruit, vegetables, and bakery goods. Runs every other Saturday on Avenida de Canarias.
The Gran Canaria Agricultural Market in Vecindario is a direct-from-producer farmers market held at La Karpa fairground on Avenida de Canarias. With 25 stalls, it runs every other Saturday from 8:30am to 1:30pm, alternating with the agricultural market in Arucas. Launched in February 2009, it was the first market of its kind in the southeast of Gran Canaria, set up by the island's Cabildo to put local farmers in direct contact with shoppers. It is one of the municipal markets in Vecindario and a fixture in the weekly life of Vecindario.
What to buy
Stalls carry fresh seasonal produce from Gran Canaria's farms: tropical fruits, vegetables, honey, olives, jams and preserves, local olive oil, and bread from island bakeries. All produce is sold direct from grower to buyer, so prices reflect what is genuinely in season rather than supermarket markups. Ready-made food is sometimes available too. The market accepts cash and mobile payments.
