Agromercado de Adeje

The market runs weekly rather than on a rotating monthly date, and both mornings keep the same hours: 8am to 1.30pm, with stalls packing away at the end of it. It sets up in the open air at Calle Archajara, 5, so there is no indoor hall to shelter in and no fixed shopfronts to come back to on a weekday.

Fruit and vegetables are the core of it, sold by the people who grew them, alongside fresh fish and seafood, meat and poultry, and cheese and dairy from Canarian producers. Bread and bakery stalls come from small local ovens, and organic growers have a real presence here rather than a token corner.

The handicrafts side is worth a look if you want something made on the island rather than bought in from a resort shop.

Staying in Costa Adeje puts you close to the market and gives you plenty of dining and transport options nearby. The Gran Hotel Bahía del Duque Resort is a solid upscale choice, while Hotel Jardines de Nivaria offers a quieter, more relaxed base just a short drive from the Agromercado.

If you would rather be in town than on the resort strip, look for accommodation around Adeje Town Centre, where you can walk to the market on a Saturday morning without needing a car.
