Daimiel Market

The market was built between 1955 and 1960 and inaugurated in 1961. Miguel Fisac Serna (1913–2006), born in Daimiel and one of Spain's most significant 20th-century architects, designed the building as a deliberate homage to Manchegan rural tradition. The exterior features thick whitewashed stone walls, horizontal windows and a curved corner referencing traditional La Mancha farmhouses. Inside, a reinforced concrete pillar structure creates an open layout with diffuse light from roofline skylights. A ceramic mural by Francisco Farreras marks the entrance, and the upper floor houses Espacio Fisac, a permanent exhibition space dedicated to the architect's work.

The 25 stalls cover everyday fresh food: fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry, fish and seafood, cheese, dairy and bread. Look out for local La Mancha specialities including manchego cheese and regional cured meats. The market accepts both cash and card payments. Morning visits offer the best selection across all stalls.
