Novo Mercado San Antonio

The hours are the same on all six trading days: 8am to 12pm, Monday to Saturday, with the market closed on Sundays. That makes it a morning stop rather than somewhere to drop into after lunch, and the fish counters are the reason to be there at the start of it rather than the end.

Everything is under one roof, so the weather makes no difference to a visit, and the building is wheelchair accessible with step-free entrances and accessible facilities. Stalls take cash, credit cards and debit cards, which is not something you can count on at Galicia's open-air markets.

The stalls cover the full range of Galician staples: fresh fish and seafood, butcher stalls for local meats and poultry, fruit and vegetables, and cheese and dairy. There's a specialty coffee shop and a dedicated ecological products stall too. The food court area makes it easy to sit down after shopping.

Tui is a small town, so staying central is the best move. The Town Centre puts you within easy walking distance of Novo Mercado San Antonio and the old town's cafes and restaurants. If you want something with more character, Parador de Tui is a classic choice right by the cathedral and well worth it for the setting.

The market is at Rúa Maristas, 40, a short walk from Tui's cathedral and historic centre. Tui railway station is about a 10-minute walk away, with regular services to Vigo and Pontevedra. Street parking is available in the surrounding streets.
