El Alquián is a small coastal village just outside Almería city, so staying nearby gives you the best of both worlds. Basing yourself in El Alquián village centre puts you close to local markets, or you can stay a short drive away in Almería city centre and easily reach the village by car or bus.

El Alquián Street Market runs every Sunday from 8am to 2pm along the Carretera Nijar-Alquián, close to the N-344 towards El Toyo. The 30 stalls are set up outdoors and cover a solid mix of everyday goods: clothing, footwear, handicrafts, and books. The market is wheelchair accessible and most stalls accept card payments alongside cash. Arriving early gives you the best pick of stock before the busiest hours.
