Mojacar market days fall on Wednesday and Sunday, across three separate weekly street markets, or mercadillos, all of them outdoors. Wednesday brings the town's general market to Plaza Rey Alabez; Sunday brings two specialist ones, a 50-stall antiques market and a flea market in the old town. Every one of them opens in the morning and is packed away by mid-afternoon.

Where to stay in Mojacar

Staying in Mojacar Pueblo, the hilltop old town, puts you close to the weekly street market and within easy walking distance of the village squares and local shops. For beach access alongside your market visits, Mojacar Playa has plenty of hotels and apartments right on the coast, just a short drive from the pueblo.

If you want something more comfortable and central, Parador de Mojacar is a reliable choice on the seafront with good links to both parts of town.

Market days in Mojacar

Only two days of the week carry a market here. Wednesday has one, Sunday has two, and Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday have none, which catches out visitors arriving for a Saturday morning browse.

Nine in the morning is the safe arrival time on either day. The one exception is the antiques market, which does not open until 10am but then trades an hour later than anything else in town.

Street markets in Mojacar

The Mojácar Market is the weekday option, running every Wednesday from 9am to 1.30pm on Plaza Rey Alabez with around 25 stalls of clothing, textiles and handicrafts. It is the most practical of the three: the site is wheelchair accessible, there is a children's play area, and stalls take cash, contactless and mobile payment rather than cash alone.

Sunday is the busier day, with two markets trading. The Mojácar Antiques Market on Avenida de Andalucía is the largest in the town at roughly 50 stalls, all of them antiques, and it keeps the latest hours of the three at 10am to 3pm. If you are making a single trip and antiques are the draw, this is the one to plan around.

The Mojácar Sunday Flea Market runs the same morning from 9am to 2pm on Plaza Nueva, in the centro histórico, the hilltop old town people search for as Mojácar Pueblo. It mixes books and magazines with more antiques, and stall numbers are not recorded, so treat it as the smaller of the two Sunday markets.

Full opening times and addresses for all three are on the street markets in this city page, and the Almería province markets page covers what is on across the rest of the province. Along the same stretch of coast, Garrucha and Vera trade on days Mojacar does not. The Ayuntamiento de Mojácar publishes its own market listing.

What day is Mojacar market?

Mojacar market days are Wednesday and Sunday. The Mojácar Market runs every Wednesday from 9am to 1.30pm on Plaza Rey Alabez, and two more street markets set up on Sunday: the Mojácar Antiques Market from 10am to 3pm, and the Mojácar Sunday Flea Market from 9am to 2pm. No market trades on the other five days.

Where is the market in Mojacar?

Mojacar's three street markets set up outdoors at three separate addresses. The Wednesday market fills Plaza Rey Alabez, the Sunday Flea Market runs on Plaza Nueva in the centro histórico, the hilltop old town, and the Mojácar Antiques Market occupies Avenida de Andalucía. None of the three has a permanent hall, so all are weather-dependent.

What can you buy at Mojacar markets?

Mojacar's markets sell antiques, clothing and textiles, handicrafts, and books and magazines. The 50-stall Mojácar Antiques Market deals in antiques alone and is the largest in the town, the 25-stall Wednesday market covers clothing and handicrafts, and the Sunday Flea Market pairs books and magazines with further antiques.

What time do Mojacar markets open?

Mojacar markets open at 9am, with the exception of the Mojácar Antiques Market, which starts at 10am on Sunday. Closing times run from 1.30pm for the Wednesday market on Plaza Rey Alabez, to 2pm for the Sunday Flea Market, to 3pm for the antiques market, so the morning is the reliable time to arrive.
