Marbella Municipal Market

Known in Spanish as the Mercado Municipal de Marbella, this is a food market that works six days a week rather than on one market day. The trading day is the same on all six: 8am to 3pm, Monday through Saturday, seven hours from open to close, with Sunday shut. That makes it the place to shop on the days when Marbella's weekly street markets are not out.

The hall is indoors and wheelchair accessible, which is worth knowing if steps or a hot morning would rule out an open-air market. Payment is easier here than at an outdoor market: as well as cash, the market takes contactless cards and mobile payment, so you do not need to arrive with a pocket of coins.

The fish and seafood counters are the ones people cross town for, and they keep the same 8am to 3pm hours as the rest of the hall, six days a week.

Across the 40 stalls the market covers a full shop: fish and seafood, meat and poultry, fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, cheese and dairy, and bread and bakery. That combination makes it the practical stop if you are self-catering in an apartment for the week, since one visit between 8am and 3pm covers all six.
