Puerto Market

The market building dates to 1891 and was constructed by engineers from Gustave Eiffel's company, the same firm behind the Eiffel Tower. Its modernist structure of cast iron and glass is now a protected Cultural Heritage Site. After a renovation in 1994, it became the first market in the Canary Islands to combine a traditional fresh food market with a gastronomy offer, a format that has since spread across Spain.

The market's 25 stalls cover fresh fish and seafood, meat and poultry, fruit and vegetables, cheese, and dairy. The gastronomy section draws as much attention as the produce counters. You'll find local Canarian dishes alongside international options from Galicia, Italy, and Greece. Coffee stalls and prepared food make it a solid stop for breakfast or lunch, and the evening sessions turn it into a proper dining destination.

The market is at C. Albareda, 76, in the port area of Las Palmas. It's walkable from Las Canteras beach and well connected by city buses. Parking is available nearby.
