Markets in Santa Cruz de la Palma centre around the island capital's historic market hall, known locally as La Recova. With roots going back to the 16th century, this indoor market is the main spot to pick up fresh local produce on the eastern side of La Palma.
The building originally served as a hospital before being converted into a marketplace in 1884. A full renovation in 2001 brought it up to modern standards while keeping its traditional courtyard layout. Today you'll find around 15 stalls selling tropical fruits, fresh fish, Canarian cheeses, and locally grown vegetables.
