Santa Cruz de La Palma Municipal Market

The building occupies the site of a hospital founded in 1514, later converted into a covered marketplace. Its neoclassical interior features a central skylight that fills the hall with natural light through the morning. A renovation in the early 2000s modernised the facilities while keeping the traditional layout intact.

With 15 stalls, it's a compact market with a local atmosphere. It's fully indoors and wheelchair accessible, with both cash and mobile payment accepted.

The stalls carry fresh produce grown across La Palma and the wider Canary Islands. You'll find tropical fruits including bananas, papayas, mangos, and avocados alongside locally grown vegetables. The fish section stocks fresh catch from island boats, and the cheese counters carry Canarian varieties cut to order. Coffee and tea are also available.

La Recova is the main option among municipal markets in Santa Cruz de la Palma, and the best place in the city centre to pick up fresh local produce.

The market is at Av. el Puente, 16, in the centre of Santa Cruz de La Palma. It's walkable from the historic quarter and the seafront promenade. Public buses connecting other parts of the island stop close by. Street parking is available on surrounding streets.
