An outdoor weekend market on the Tacoronte-Tejina road in northern Tenerife, with 25 stalls selling fresh Canarian produce, organic goods, bread and local handicrafts.
Tacoronte Farmer's Market (Mercadillo del Agricultor de Tacoronte) has been running since 1981, making it one of the longest-established weekend markets in the Canary Islands. Set along the TF-121 road in Tacoronte, the outdoor market is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 2pm, and does not trade during the week. Around 25 stalls line the roadside site about 3.5 kilometres from the town centre, on the edge of the Tacoronte-Acentejo wine region. It is one of the municipal markets in Tacoronte.
What to buy at Tacoronte Farmer's Market
The stalls focus on fresh produce from local Canarian farms: bananas, avocados, mangoes, papayas and seasonal citrus, plus vegetables, herbs and organic products. You'll also find artisan bread and pastries, local honey, traditional cheeses and gofio alongside handmade handicrafts. It's a good spot to pick up ingredients you won't find in a supermarket. Stalls take cash and cards, though card acceptance varies from one trader to the next, so bring some cash.
Where to stay in Tacoronte
Tacoronte is a small town, so your best bet is to stay in the town centre itself, where you'll be within easy reach of the market and the local wine bars. Try Tacoronte Town Centre for a convenient base with good access to everything.
If you'd prefer more accommodation options, the nearby coastal area of El Sauzal is just a short drive away and offers some lovely spots with sea views. El Sauzal makes a relaxed alternative, especially if you plan to explore the wider northeast corner of Tenerife.
