Fuente-Álamo Weekly Market

The market is known locally as the Mercadillo de Fuente-Álamo. There is no indoor hall, so the stalls stand in the open air on the Recinto de Mercados, the town's designated market ground. Five hours once a week is the whole of it, which is why the pitches cover food shopping and clothing together rather than specialising.

Carry cash. No stall here is confirmed to take cards, and produce is sold loose by the kilo, so small notes and coins are worth having.

Fresh fruit and vegetables take up the largest share of the pitches. Alongside them are meat and poultry counters, fish and seafood, cheese and dairy, and bread and bakery stalls.

The non-food side is clothing and textiles, plus footwear and leather. Expect everyday wear, work clothes and shoes rather than anything boutique. Everything packs up at 1pm, so leave the clothing rails until after the fresh counters.

Staying near the centre means you can walk to the Recinto de Mercados on Saturday morning without moving the car. Try Town Centre for the most convenient base.
