Hellín Municipal Market

The hours are the same on every day the hall trades, so there is no late opening and no split afternoon shift to plan around. All 25 stalls sit under cover, which means the market works the same way in January as it does in an Albacete August. Access is step-free throughout, and stalls take cash and credit cards.

The stalls cover everyday fresh food rather than anything aimed at visitors: seasonal fruit and vegetables, butcher counters for meat and poultry, fishmongers, cheese and dairy, and bread and bakery goods. Shopping the way local residents do means going early, when the fish and fruit counters are at their fullest, and being ready to buy by weight at each counter separately rather than in one transaction.

Hellín is a small town, so staying central is your best bet. Look for accommodation around Town Centre and you'll be able to walk to the Municipal Market and the main sights without any fuss.

If you prefer something with a bit more comfort, Avenida de Hellín has a few good options along the main road into town, with easy parking and quick access to everything you need.

The market is on Plaza Mercado in Hellín's town centre and is an easy walk from most of the historic area. Street parking is available in the surrounding streets.
