Cuba Square Market

The market traces its roots to the late 19th century, when it operated as a temporary open-air market during Mataró's urban expansion. The current building opened on 11 April 1936, designed by local architect Lluís Gallifa Grezner. A full renovation in 2010 updated the facilities.

The 25 stalls cover the everyday staples: fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and poultry, fish and seafood, cheese and dairy, and bread. Beyond the produce, the market runs a kitchen classroom for live cooking demonstrations and a dedicated space for wine and beer tastings. Stalls take cash, contactless cards and mobile payment. You can browse participating stalls and order for pickup or delivery through the official market website.

Staying in the city centre puts you closest to Cuba Square, and City Centre has a good selection of hotels within easy walking distance of the market. The Hotel Colón Mataró is a solid, well-located option if you want something straightforward and comfortable.

If you prefer being near the seafront, Mataró Waterfront is just a short stroll from the centre and gives you a relaxed base to explore both the market and the beach.

The market is at Plaça de Cuba, 47 in central Mataró, with free parking directly on site. From Mataró train station it's an 8-minute walk; the Pl. Tereses bus stop is 3 minutes away on foot. Mataró is served by the R1 train line from Barcelona, so a visit combines well with a day out on the Maresme coast.
