Premià de Mar Weekly Market

This is the town's open-air weekly market, running down the riera itself rather than under a roof, so it takes the weather as it comes. Seventy stalls is a good size for a Maresme town of this scale, and the Thursday morning slot makes it a locals' shopping run rather than a weekend outing.

Fruit and vegetable stalls make up the core of the market, alongside cheese and dairy, bread and bakery stalls and meat and poultry counters, enough to put together a full week's food shop without leaving the riera. The rest of the run sells clothing and textiles, footwear and leather goods, and a smaller number of handicraft stalls.

Premià de Mar is a small coastal town, so your best bet is to stay close to the seafront or the town centre, both within walking distance of the riera. Try Town Centre for convenience, or Seafront if you want a beach view to round off your visit. Mataró, a short train ride up the coast, has more choice if the town is full.

The market occupies Riera de Premià between Carrer Jacint Verdaguer and the Camí del Mig, a walk of a few minutes uphill from Premià de Mar station on the R1 coastal line, which runs along the shore from Barcelona Sants and Plaça Catalunya.
