The stalls fall into four groups: handicrafts, artisan jewellery, clothing and textiles, and prepared food you can eat on the spot. That makes it a souvenir market rather than a produce one, so don't arrive expecting the fish and vegetable counters of a weekly food mercadillo. No card payment is recorded for any of the stalls, so carry cash. Everything is out in the open at the bridge, with no indoor hall to shelter in when the Rías Baixas weather turns.

Staying in O Grove town centre puts you close to the market and within easy walking distance of the waterfront and local restaurants. For something a bit more peaceful, the island of A Toxa, just across the bridge, is worth considering, and the Gran Hotel La Toja is the standout option there if you want a treat.

If you prefer a smaller, simpler base, there are plenty of guesthouses and family-run hotels dotted around O Grove seafront that offer good value and easy access to everything the peninsula has to offer.
