Markets in Santa Pola

Two municipal markets serve the town, both indoor and both trading weekly. The larger is Santa Pola Central Market, which has 30 stalls and is the biggest covered hall in town, with counters for fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry, cheese and dairy, and fish and seafood. The second hall is smaller and follows the same 09:00 to 14:00 pattern, and the two are close enough to work through in one morning.

Seafood is the reason to shop the halls rather than a supermarket here, since Santa Pola is a working fishing port and the fish counters are stocked from it. Seven street markets make up the rest of the week, a wider spread than most towns this size manage. The largest is Santa Pola Central Street Market with 40 stalls, and clothing, textiles and footwear take up most of the outdoor pitches, with flowers and plants, handicrafts, prepared foods and books filling out the rest. A couple of the pitches only set up through the summer, so the count on the ground is lower out of season.
