The market runs weekly, on Saturday mornings only. It is laid out along the avenue in the open with nothing under cover, so the first couple of hours are the coolest part of the morning in summer. Stalls take cash only. Dogs are welcome, and the pitch is flat and wheelchair accessible from end to end.

Thirty stalls is a half-hour walk at browsing pace, which suits a morning that also takes in the beach or the old town.

Clothing and textiles first: t-shirts, dresses, trousers, jackets and seasonal holiday clothing on rails at the front of each stall. Then footwear and leather, meaning shoes, sandals, espadrilles, belts and bags. Sizes and stock vary week to week, so if something fits, buy it rather than planning to come back.

Staying near the old town puts you within walking distance of the avenue and the beach: Casco Antiguo is a solid base, and the AR Roca Esmeralda & Spa Hotel is a short stroll from it. If you would rather be on the seafront, Playa de la Fossa is a few minutes' walk away.

The address is Av. Pais Valencià, 4D, 03710 Calp, a main road in central Calpe that is an easy walk from most of the town. If you drive, aim to arrive close to 8am, as the streets around the avenue fill up through the morning. The surface is level, with room between the stalls for a wheelchair or a pushchair.
