Orihuela Agricultural Market

Fresh fruit and vegetables lead, sold by growers rather than resellers, and the rest of the 20 stalls cover meat and poultry, cheese and dairy. That mix makes it a shopping market rather than a browsing one: the people here are buying the week's food, not looking for crafts or clothing. Carry cash, since card acceptance is not confirmed at any stall and street traders working a six-hour pitch often take nothing else.

Staying in the historic centre of Orihuela puts you close to the market and within easy walking distance of the old town's cafes and shops. Try Casco Antiguo for a central base, or look at options along the riverfront for a quieter stay.

If you prefer something more modern, the area around Orihuela Costa offers plenty of hotels with easy road access back into town for market day.

The market runs along the Paseo de Calvo Sotelo, 03300 Orihuela, in the town rather than out on the Orihuela Costa side of the municipality. It is an open-air market with no building attached, so the stalls are on the paseo itself and everything is gone by mid-afternoon.
