El Albir Street Market

The Spanish name is Mercadillo de El Albir, and among the town's northern European residents you will also see it written as the Albir markt, marked or marknad, all pointing at the same Sunday morning. The opening times are the same every week, 8am to 3pm, and it is a proper open-air mercadillo rather than an indoor hall, so the whole thing packs down by mid-afternoon.

Most stalls take cash, and that remains the simplest way to pay, but contactless and mobile payments are accepted at many pitches. There are public toilets on site and a food court, which makes it easy to break up a browse with something to eat. The site is wheelchair accessible.

Fresh fruit and vegetables are the core of the produce stalls, alongside local honey and jars of spices and dried herbs. Prepared foods are sold ready to take away.

The non-food half of the 40 stalls covers clothing and textiles, footwear and leather goods, and jewellery.

El Albir is the coastal strip of L'Alfàs del Pi, so staying close to the beach here puts you right on the doorstep of the market. Try El Albir for easy walking access, with plenty of hotels and apartments along the seafront to choose from.

If you prefer something a little quieter, the town centre of L'Alfàs del Pi itself is just a short drive away and tends to be cheaper. L'Alfàs del Pi Town Centre works well as a base if you have a car and want to explore more of the surrounding area too.
