Jávea Municipal Market

The building dates from 1946 and was put up on the site of a 17th-century Discalced Augustinian convent. Inside, a gable roof is carried on large tufa stone arches, with the 25 stalls fitted into a compact floor plan. The market is closed on Sundays. It is wheelchair accessible from street level, and the stalls take cards, contactless and mobile payments as well as cash, so you do not need to arrive with notes in your pocket.

The counters cover a full Mediterranean shop: fish and seafood, meat and poultry, fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese and dairy, and bread and bakery goods. With only 25 stalls in the hall you can walk the whole market in a few minutes before deciding where to buy.

Staying in the old town, Casco Antiguo, puts you within easy walking distance of the municipal market and the main squares. For something closer to the sea, El Puerto is a great base with plenty of places to eat after your market visit.

If you prefer a hotel, Parador de Jávea sits right on the beachfront at Arenal and is a reliable, comfortable choice with easy access to town.

The market sits on Carrer Roques in Xàbia's old town, a short walk from the Plaça de la Constitució. Street parking is available in the surrounding streets. The entrance is wheelchair accessible from street level.
