Javea Solidarity Rastro (APASA)

Secondhand clothing is the backbone of a rastro, and this one runs from vintage pieces through to ordinary everyday wear, priced to move rather than to be haggled over at length. Alongside it, produce stalls sell seasonal fruit and vegetables, which is unusual for a charity rastro and worth the walk on its own.

The rest is general goods: household bits, odds and ends, the sort of stock that changes from one Saturday to the next. Come early in the five-hour window if you want first pick of it, since the good secondhand finds are gone long before the 2pm pack-up.

Javea's old town, known as the Pueblo, puts you within easy reach of the Solidarity Rastro and plenty of good spots for a coffee beforehand. Try Javea Old Town for a characterful base, or Parador de Javea if you want something with more comfort and sea views.

If you prefer to stay closer to the beach, the Arenal area is a short drive from the market and has a good mix of accommodation options. Javea Arenal works well if you want easy access to the waterfront after you've finished browsing.

The market sets up at Parque de Pinosol, in the centre of Javea. There is no indoor hall, so the whole thing is weather-dependent and closes at 2pm sharp. Dates and any changes are posted on the market's official page.
